Martin Campbell-White

Martin Campbell-White is widely regarded as one of the most experienced and widely admired artists’ managers of our generation. Having begun his career at Ibbs and Tillett in 1966, he moved to Harold Holt Ltd in 1972 and later negotiated the merger with Lies Askonas to form Askonas Holt Ltd in 1998.
He has overseen the careers of major artists such as Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniel Harding, Robin Ticciati, John Lill and Robert Tear. He took a leading role in arranging international tours, specialising also in festival management. He travelled frequently throughout Asia. He was responsible for organising the Japan Festival 1991, one of the most comprehensive festivals of Japanese culture ever seen in the UK.
Martin Campbell-White retired as chief executive of Askonas Holt in 2014. He remains actively involved with the organisation as consultant, advising and consulting its staff and artists. He was appointed in 2014 an Honorary Member of the Royal Philharmonic Society of London. He stepped down at the end of 2023 as chair of the Mahler Foundation, remaining their Honorary Chairman. He has also acted as consultant to the Opéra Comique in Paris and has frequently been a jury member at international music competitions.
