A new prize will be given to the competitor winning the 1st prize at the Violin Section of the George Enescu International Competition 2016: participation in iPalpiti Festival of International Laureates 2017. This award is granted by the conductor and violinist Eduard Schmieder, member of the jury of this year’s edition of the George Enescu International Competition.

Organized in Los Angeles, USA, iPalpiti Festival of International Laureates 2017 aims to support young musicians with special talent, who manage to take classical music to the next century. Participation will entail giving recitals in famous venues, such as Disney Concert Hall, the necessary costs for the travel being covered in full by the organizers.

This special prize is added to the “Ștefan Gheorghiu” two-year scholarship in Berlin, at the prestigious Daniel Barenboim Academy, which will be granted to the top ranking Romanian competitor at the Violin Section of the Enescu Competition 2016. The scholarship is awarded by three of the highest-ranking Romanian-born violinists internationally, Mihaela Martin, Silvia Marcovici and Mariana Sârbu.
