Lora Vakova-Tarara was born in 1990 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and began to play the piano at the age of six. In 2008, Lora graduated with honor from the Dobrin Petkov National Music School.
She gave her first public recital at the age of ten. The following year, Lora won the national Franz Schubert Competition in Bulgaria. She has won prizes at numerous international music competitions including the Schumann Brahms and Ohrid Pearls Music Competitions, the Marguerite Meister Music Prize, the Kiwanis competition, the Swiss Chamber Music Competition, the Swedish Duo Competition and Lausanne Academy.
In December 2014, Lora won a study prize by Migros Culture Percentage.
As a piano accompanist, Lora has won prizes at the Swiss Youth competition in Geneva, at the international Vasco Abadjiev Violin Competition in Sofia in 2011 and at the international George Enescu Violin Competition in Bucharest in 2014. Lora has appeared at numerous international music festivals including Sofia Music Weeks, Bach Festival Leipzig, Adelboden Chamber Music Festival, Toledo Festival and others.
Lora graduated with distinction from the University of Arts in Zurich in 2013 with a master´s Degree in the class of Prof. Eckart Heiligers.
Lora gives a large number of solo and chamber concerts in the country and abroad.
